Monterey Motors
Premium automotive brand
Concept project
Overview
A concept for a premium automotive brand, built around the idea that a car should be shown the way a gallery shows a sculpture — one subject, one light, nothing else in the frame.
Project scope
- Scope
- Brand concept, vehicle archive, model detail, technical specifications, enquiry
- Primary goal
- Present each vehicle like a gallery piece while keeping key details easy to find
- Status
- Concept project
Approach
The interface recedes to near-black so the vehicle carries every page. Controls are reduced to thin rules and small uppercase labels placed at the margins.
The configurator was reconsidered as an editorial sequence rather than a panel of options: each choice changes the photograph first and the specification second.

Art direction
- Palette
- Near-black, graphite, steel
- Type
- Serif display, technical sans
- Imagery
- Studio, single source
- Motion
- Weighted, minimal
Selected interface
Model, year, mileage and specification set as typographic rules beside the photograph.

Presentation
The collection archive is a quiet index — model, year, place — that opens into full-screen photography without a single card or shadow.
Specification tables are set as typographic rules, treating numbers as part of the composition rather than as data dumped into a grid.
Outcome
As a concept it demonstrates a restrained alternative to the usual configurator: fewer controls, larger imagery, and a browsing experience that holds attention rather than fragmenting it.
